Contemporary Section

In today's world, there is one specific protests that is really popular and is expanding across the world and it is call "Occupy Wall St." . This particular protest came about because the "middle class" people are losing their jobs and getting laid off because of the economy. Wall St. has enough money and jobs to support the less wealthier people but because of their greed, they're stuck having to pay high taxes and getting laid off of their jobs. This protest has been taking place in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Oakland, Denver and even Tennessee. Each day that they protests, more and more people hear about it and protest for the cause. Although I do not have a specific magazine that I read, the Internet site that I'm on, the newspaper page I'm on, the magazine article that I read and the radio I listen to all support the Occupy Wall St. Protest. Just as we are all afraid that at any given moment, we could lose our jobs, they are just as scared as we are. A publicist isn't guaranteed their next story. A radio host isn't guaranteed to go on air. Even a person who owns their own website isn't guaranteed that the Internet won't crash, we all have to take precautions when it comes to our work and careers because with the way the economy is today, we could all get laid off tomorrow.

Colonial Section

Colonists were frustrated about many laws and regulations that came about, including the Stamp Act, Sugar Act, Tea Act, Townshend Act, Quartering Act and many other that were causing a lot of taxation.  Many of these acts and laws that were passed were what I'd like to call "ridiculous", but one of these acts really seems preposterous and that was The Quartering Act. The Quartering Act was an 18th century act passed by the Parliament of Great Britain. This law ordered the local American colonies to provide housing and provisions for British soldiers. This basically meant that if a soldier decided to come to your home after war and wanted to eat everything in your refrigerator and lay in your bed, then you had to allow it. BULL****! Among many rebelling colonist were the New York Provincial Assembly who refused to comply with the Act and failed to supply billeting for the troops.
